Chiara Amarù, born in 1984, started her musical studies under
her parents' guidance. She has been part of Teatro Massimo children choir from 1991 to 2001 in Palermo and graduated with
honors in 2007 at the V. Bellini Music conservatory; after that she
attended the Scuola dell'Opera in Bologna from 2009 to 2011.
Finalist at the 59th As.Li.Co. Competition for European Young Opera
Singers, she made her debut as Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte
at the opera houses of the Circuito Lombardo. She also obtained the
Youngest Finalist Award at the 7th Ottavio Ziino International Opera
Competition. In May she performed: second-Magd in Elektra with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana at the Politeama in Palermo; and Mozart's Requiem in Chieti under the baton of Donato Renzetti.
Highlights of her 2010 appearances are: winner of the 61th As.Li.Co. competition for the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola; Idamante in Idomeneo
in Bologna, she performs for a live broadcast event on national radio
in Turin with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale – R.A.I., Assunta in
Napoli Milionaria at the Festival della Valle D'Itria in Martina Franca
and she took part in a concert with Andrea Bocelli for the 2010 Golden
Pavarotti Award in Correggio.
She sang Angelina in La Cenerentola in Brescia, Cremona, Como, Pavia, Piacenza and Bologna, Amenofi in Mosè in Egitto
at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and a concert with Boris
Petrunshansky at the MI-TO Festival in Milan and Turin; soloist in
Mozart's Missa in C minor K 427 in Cagliari and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in Bologna. She also performs as Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri in Bologna and Bari, Marianna in Signor Bruschino and Isaura in Tancredi in Pesaro during the Rossini Opera Festival, Fidalma in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto in Turin, Malcolm in La donna del lago in Pesaro at the Rossini Opera Festival, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Palermo at ROF/Pesaro, at Regio in Turin, at Opera in Rome and at La Fenice, La Cenerentola at Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Sara in Roberto Devereux in Florence, Isolier in Le Comte Ory at Teatro alla Scala, Preziosilla in La forza del destino at the Verdi Festival in Parma and in Verona.
Recent engagements include: Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri in Tours, Venice; Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Regio in Parma and in Lima; Pamela in Fra Diavolo in Palermo; Meg in Falstaff in Cagliari; Dorabella in Così fan tutte in Rome; Angelina in La Cenerentola in Turin; Enrichetta in I puritani at Radio France Festival in Montpellier; Aristea in Mayr's Che originali! and Donizetti's Messa da Requiem at Donizetti Festival in Bergamo; Rossini Stabat Mater
with Orchestre Nationale du Capitole in Toulouse and later at the
Philarmonie de Paris for Les Grandes Voix, in Washington and at the Carnegie Hall in New
York; a solo Recital at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; a Rossini Gala at La Verdi Orchestra of Milano; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Melbourne and on tour in Australia; Beethoven's Symphony nr.9 in Palermo; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Rome; Meg in Falstaff in Valencia; La Cenerentola at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna; Rossini's Stabat Mater at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Chung conducting, La Calsito at the Teatro alla Scala, Giovanna d'arco and Stabat Mater in Bilbao, Roberto Devereux (Sara) and Il Matrimonio Segreto in Palermo.
Amongst her future plans it is worth mentioning Rossini's Stabat Mater in St. Denis, I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Catania and Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Venice.
