Ekaterina Bakanova - Soprano - I Print

Russian-born, Miss Ekaterina Bakanova graduated music school in accordion, piano and singing and graduated in Vocal Studies from Gnesin Music Academy in Moscow. She won several major international singing competitions like Bilbao International Singing competition (Bilbao, Spain), Hans Gabor Belvedere (Vienna, Austria), AsLiCo (Como, Italy) , Bella Voce (Moscow, Russia) before becoming a soloist at Novaya Opera. Her win at the Giuseppe de Stefano competition in Sicily and the Maria Caniglia competition in Sulmona led her to professional debut in Italy, where she studies privately with Gabriella Ravazzi in Genoa, and where since 2007 she has established a very successful career. She is a winner of Giulietta Prize as a best female singer at Arena di Verona Opera Festival 2015 and was nominated as a Best Young Female Opera Singers 2016 by Opera Awards in London.

Ekaterina Bakanova performs regulary on international opera stages like Arena di Verona, La Fenice Opera House, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, NCPA in Beijing, Semperoper Dresden, ROH Covent Garden. The artist collaborates with conductors such as Maurizio Benini, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Stefano Montanari, Nello Santi, Placido Domingo, Karel Marc Chichon, Jan Latham Koenig, Mung Wung Chung and Yutako Sado; and with directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Robert Carson, Calixto Bieto, Richard Eyre, Henning Brockhaus, Hugo de Ana and Roberto Andó.

Recently she performed: Carmen at La Fenice in Venice (under Myung Whun Chung); La Traviata in Venice, Florence, Trieste, Peralada, Lisbon, Dresden, Moscow; La Rondine (new production) in Florence; a concert version of Carmen in Versailles with Jean-Christophe Spinosi, with whom Mrs Bakanova also performed as Almirena in Handel's Rinaldo on tour in Brest, Lyon, Versailles, Moscow, Vienna and in Vivaldi's Gloria and Handel's Dixit Dominus in Paris (TCE); Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) in Tel Aviv and in Padua; Le Nozze di Figaro (Susanna) in Verona (Teatro Filarmonico); Il Bravo (Violetta) by Mercadante in Wexford; Les pêcheurs de perles at the Liceu in Barcelona and Dortmund; Turandot (Liù) and Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Beijing; Shostakovich's Symphony no.14 with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg; Maria Stuarda in Lisbon; La Traviata at the Teatro Real de Madrid, in Tokyo and in Cagliari; Mahler's Symphony no.4 with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Turin under Fabio Luisi; Les pêcheurs de perles in Oviedo; Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Antonia) in Zurich; L'Angelica (title role) by Porpora at the Festival della Valle d'Itria in Martina Franca under Federico Maria Sardelli; Fidelio (Marzelline) at La Fenice in Venice under Myung Whun Chung for the season's opening; her debut as Nedda in Pagliacci at the Opernhaus in Zurich.

Her upcoming engagements include: Il Viaggio a Reims in Dresden; L'Elisir d'amore in Cagliari; Symphony nr. 14 at the Philharmonie in Paris;  Les pêcheurs de perles in Zurich; La Rondine in Moscow; Moïse et Pharaon (Anaï) à Lyon; La Traviata in Oviedo; Roberto Devereux in Geneva; a solo concert at La Fenice in Venice.
