Grazia Doronzio - Soprano - E Print

 Mrs. Doronzio graduated from the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Rossini in Pesaro, where she was awarded a scholarship from the Rossini Foundation. She also studied at the Opera Studio dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera di New York.

at the very beginning of her career Mrs Doronzio was chosen by Alberto Zedda to participate in the concert for the “212th Birthday of Rossini” at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. She was also invited to participate in the concert for the 15th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall at Wolfsburg Castle in Germany.

Ms. Doronzio won several contests: First Prize at the 22nd Concorso Internazionale di Musica Vocale da Camera in Conegliano; First Prize at the Elardo International Opera Competition; awarded also at the Stella Maris Competition, the Viñas Competition (2008), the Opera de Sabadell, the Iris Adami Corradetti International Competition in Padua, the Ottavio Ziino International Competition in Rome, the A. Belli Competition in Spoleto, and the Spiros Argiris Competition of Sarzana and at the Sullivan Award.

Mrs. Doronzio made her debut as Mimì in La bohème at the Spoleto Teatro Lirico Sperimentale, where she also performed the title role in Cimarosa’s Cleopatra. Other engagements include performances of Filippo Marchetti’s Gustavo Wasa in Camerino Paisiello’s Nina, o sia la pazza per amore in Rome, Mozart’s Requiem in Bergamo with the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, and a recital at the Opéra de Rouen.  Mrs. Doronzio made a tremendous impact performing the songs of Luigi Dallapiccola on the Metropolitan Opera Chamber Ensemble series at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall under Maestro James Levine.

Past seasons saw her return to Oper Frankfurt as Mimì in La bohème, Nannetta in Falstaff and Zerlina in Don Giovanni followed by her house debut as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with the Hamburgische Staatsoper. Ms. Doronzio returned to Michigan Opera Theater for Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, followed by an important debut with Oper Frankfurt as Suzel in L’amico Frtiz. She then performed Mimì in La bohème with Angers Nantes Opéra and at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Anna in a concert performance of Puccini’s Le villi at the Konzerthaus in Dortmund, Liù in Turandot with Seattle Opera (debut), Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, La Bohème (Mimì) at the Canadian Opera Company and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Regio in Turin. Recent notable engagements include: Don Giovanni (Zerlina) at the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee and at the Rieti Belcanto Festival ; L'Elisir d'Amore in Naples; La Bohème (Mimì) with the Atlanta Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Deutsche Oper Berlin, at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, at the Petruzzelli in Bari; Turandot (Liù) with the Metropolitan Opera and Portland Opera; Isifile in Cavalli’s Giasone with Chicago Opera Theater; Micaëla in Carmen at the Savonlinna Festival. After that she performed in La Bohème in Toronto and in Cagliari; Die Zauberflöte in Hamburg;  L'Elisir d'amore in Dusseldorf, Ancona and Bari; Don Giovanni in Frankfurt; Medea at the Grand Theatre de Genève and La Bohème with the German Radio Symphony Orchestra in Saarbrucken. In concert she appeared in Mozart’s Requiem with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Maestro James Levine and Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem in Catania.

During the next season she will be in Nancy for the World Premiere of G. Battistelli's new opera 7 Minuti.
