Roberto Lorenzi - Basso-Baritono - W Print

Bass-baritone Roberto Lorenzi graduated from the Istituto  Luigi Boccherini in Lucca and won first prize in the 62nd AsLiCo Competition for the role of Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia on tour in Lombardy. He is also a winner of the 'Tito Ruffo' and 'Riccardo Zandonai' competitions. In 2017, he was a finalist in the 'Cardiff Singer of the World' Competition. In the summer of 2013, he took part in the Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival and subsequently joined the ensemble of the Zurich Operhaus, after graduating from the Opera Studio of the Theatre in 2015. Roles debuted in Zurich include: Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi (conducted by F. Luisi; recorded production for DVD by Accentus), Prior in La Straniera; Alidoro in Cenerentola; La Vengeance in Médée (conducted by W. Christie); Don Prudenzio in a new production of Un Viaggio a Reims; Montano in Otello; Caronte in Orlando Paladino; Geronimo in Il matrimonio segreto (conducted by R. Minasi); Le Gouvernuer in Le Comte Ory; Zuniga in Carmen and Publio in La clemenza di Tito (conducted by O. Dantone). Lorenzi made his debut at La Scala in Milan at the age of 22 in F. Zeffirelli's acclaimed production of La bohème (Doganiere) conducted by D. Rustioni. He also sang Angelotti in Tosca, Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and the title role in Don Giovanni in Lucca; Alidoro in La Cenerentola in Giardino Scotto, Pisa, in Chieti and at the Opera of Lille; Ferrando in Trovatore for AsLiCo and in Brescia; Daland in Der Fliegende Hollaender in the Opera Domani project at the Teatro Olimpico in Rome, Teatro Comunale in Bologna and Teatro Regio in Turin; Gualtiero in I Puritani at the Massimo in Palermo; Don Giovanni (Leporello) in Tel Aviv; Petite Messe Solennelle in Pesaro. He made his debut at the Concertgebouw in Amstedam in the role of Prior in La Straniera and Colline in La Bohème in the Circuito Marchigiano; Il Viaggio a Reims at the Musikverein in Vienna; Carmen in Caracalla; Masetto in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna; La Cenerentola (Alidoro) in Martigny; Il Trovatore (Ferrando) on tour in Italy; Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Grange Festival in London and at the Norske Opera in Oslo; Così fan tutte in Nice and Antibes; L'Ange de Nisida and Medea in Corinto at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo; Don Giovanni (Masetto) at the opening of the season at the Rome Opera, conducted by Daniele Gatti; La Cenerentola (Alidoro) in London (Grange Festival), where he returned for Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream; Haydn's La Creazione, Alceste and I Puritani at the Rome Opera. On the concert side, he performed Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa; Mozart's Requiem in Lucca and Handel's Messiah in Madrid, Gdansk and Seville (conducted by F. Biondi with Europa Galante); Rossini's Stabat Mater at LaVerdi in Milan; Petite Messe Solennelle in Paris and Perm; Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 with I Pomeriggi Musicali conducted by Nathalie Stutzmann; and a series of concerts in Pesaro.

Upcoming engagements include: Il Tabarro in Rome; Le nozze di Figaro in Bologna; Lucia di Lammermoor in Bergamo; and I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Liège.
